Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan

Bazarbei Matai from Mongolia, a Kok boru player, prior to his side's record to defeat to tournament favourites Kyrgyzstan at the World Nomad Games. Like many of the Mongolian Kok-Boru players, Bazarbei hails from Bayan-Olgii. Life is hard in their home region, with most of the players, including Bazarbai, still making a living from hunting and husbandry. ''I'm an eagle hunter. We catch whatever we can, sometimes even wolves, and take the pelts. Life is good there, it is a beautiful land. It is in our blood.''
