Ben Freeth stands in a mango grove on Mt Carmel Farm. Ben and Laura Freeth have been fighting alongside Laura's parents Mike and Angela Campbell to keep their farm from being repossessed. The Campbells are one of dozens of white farming families to challenge the government's right to confiscate their land. They took their case to a tribunal of African judges established by the 15 nations of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) regional trade bloc. In November 2008, the SADC tribunal found in favour of the Campbells, a decision that went unrecognised by the Zimbabwean government. They were however allowed to return to their farm, largely due to pictures disseminated on the internet of the brutal beatings the family received at the hands of the would-be invaders.
