Cadets from the paramilitary organisation FIA (FIDELES ET INSTRUCTI ARMIS) during training (using replica weapons) at the Polish army base in Warsaw. FIA's recruits consist of ordinary civilians from various occupations, who volunteer to learn military techniques. Since the start of war in Ukraine, paramilitary groups have seen a rise in membership. Seven such organisations, including FIA, are currently endorsed by the Polish Army, which is planning to create a strong reserve army based on the model of the American National Guard.
