Child jockey Firmansyah (8) who fell from his horse during a race the day before, puts on elastic ankle supports before another race at the camp near the racecourse where his training team are based during the preliminary stages of the 'Regional Police Chief's Cup 2019'. Firmansyah fell from his mount during a race but returned to riding just a day after his accident.

Racing is deeply rooted in the island's culture but the use of children, usually aged between 5-10, as jockeys is controversial with activists seeing it as a human right's issue but supporters claiming it is a tradition that offers financial rewards to impoverished families.
