Shaqlawa, Iraq

Christian pilgrims make a wish as they slide down a large flat rock and touch their heads to the ground inside the main cave at the Rabban Beya Temple. The 4th century Christian monastery is a series of caves carved into a mountain high above the Shaqlawa valley and an important pilgrimage site for the Assyrian community.
