Butembo, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo

Community health workers travelling in a 4WD vehicle on their way to conduct outreach educating the local population on the need for vaccinations.

An Ebola outbreak was declared on 7th February in Butembo, Democratic Republic of the Congo. A previous Ebola outbreak was declared over in June 2020. It had claimed the lives of 2,287 people since August 2018.

This recent outbreak appears to be under control partly as a result of the swift deployment of the Ebola vaccine, although there is still resistance to being inoculated in some areas.
