Concrete structures near ground zero at the Experimental Field in the Polygon. These towers were placed at different distances from ground zero to check the impact of the explosion. Inside cameras were installed to photograph the explosion.
From 1949 until 1991 the Soviet government conducted 456 nuclear tests at the Semipalatinsk Test Site, also known as the 'Polygon' which measured 19,000 square kms.
