Geneva, SWITZERLAND

Crossing the lake in Geneva, on a city ferry with the Jet d'eau behind. Geneva claims to have invented private banking, and 80 banks - many of them foreign, handle an estimated 40% of foreign assets, in Switzerland. The city of Calvin is also home to hundreds of finance companies and independent asset managers feeding into this system. It has also become a major centre for trading companies dealing in primary materials ranging from oil to wheat.
