Dead trees in a permanently flooded area in the Pantanal of Paiaguas. This flooding occurred due to the 'breaking in' of the river Taquari, which due to silting up abandoned its original course and spread its waters over thousands of hectares, flooding farms and communities, and making life in the region unviable.
