Graffitti equating the Soviet Union with a Nazi regime scrawled on the base of Lenin's statue, which towered over the main square of Kiev, during the run-up to Ukraine's independence in 1991. The location of the statue, the Square of the October Revolution on Khreshchatyk Street which is Kiev's main boulevard, was renamed Independence Square in 1991, the year that the statue was demolished.
