Utoya island, Viken county, Norway

'Hegnehuset' is one of the new buildings on Utoya where Anders Behring Breivik killed 69 people. Inside Hegnehuset, the architects have placed elements from the old cafeteria, where 13 persons were killed. The building consists of several hundred external wooden pillars. These pillars, which symbolize all who experienced the terror, fence off the stories and memories. The number of columns indicates both the number of dead and the number of survivors.

The architectural company Fantastic Norway have been working closely with the Labour Party's youth wing in designing a strategy for reestablishing a political camp on the island of Utoya. An important part was to rebuild the buildings and to build new facilities while preserving memories.
