John, (not his real name, 23), works on his laptop at a secretly located shelter for the members of the LGBT community. John, a universty student from Turkmenistan, identifies as bisexual. He says: ''In Turkmenistan we are afraid to use the internet. People are afraid of KMB (security services), as they can find and arrest us. But despite that we feel more free in Turkmenistan than in Kyrgyzstan. Even though Turkmenistan is a very closed country, people don't attack members of the LGBT community like they do here. I've lived in a few different shelters. When I have problems, I always come here. I know that I will always receive support. Here, I don't have to hide, I am among people who understand me, people who are like me''.
