JP Mika started painting billboards and film posters at the age of 13. After commercial studies, which he managed to finance himself, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in 2005.
He graduated two years later. His work caught the attention of the Congolese painter Chéri Chérin (born 1955), whose studio he frequented. The latter offered him his first exhibition in Bilbao in 2008.
