Karim Ansari (right) who works in a local footwear factory packs his bag at his friend's shop as he planning to leave that night by train from Mumbai to his hometown. The factory owner where he works has shut the business due to the expected COVID-19 lockdown in Maharashtra. Kalim who hails from Sultanpur in Utter Pradesh says he had a very bad expirience during the last lockdown, when he was stuck in Mumbai's slum without a job or pay. He ran out of food and money and on two occassions was dependent on meals provided by a local NGO. He managed to escape Mumbai by sharing a truck ride with 60 other migrants, paying Rs 4000/- which he had to borrow from his family from his hometown.
