There are at least 5.5 million internally displaced people (IDPs) in the DRC, mostly in the eastern provinces. In Ituri province alone there are 1.7 million IDPs, over a quarter of the population. 100 armed groups operate in the east and the result of this mostly ethnic violence is the largest unreported conflict in the world.
