, MONTSERRAT

Leafless tree trunks lining the southern flank of Soufriere Hills volcano. All the vegetation here was scorched and ripped away by the pyroclastic flows following a series of eruptions throughout the 1990s. Since its eruption in 1995, the Soufriere Hills volcano has remained active destroying the island's capital, Plymouth, and forcing the evacuation of southern Montserrat.
