Madame Wane Fatou Binetou Diop and her brother Moustapha Diop show Mapate Junior, a two and a half year old Ladoum ram that is 112cm at the withers and 140cm in length.

Ladoum sheep are a cross between Mauritanian touabir and Malian bali-bali. They're renowned for their size and appreciated for their beauty. As a highly prized status symbols and investments they can fetch as much as EUR 80,000. An annual 'beauty contest' for ladoum sheep is broadcast on Senegalese TV with sizeable prizes to be won.
