Morazan, El Salvador

Manuela was a 33-year-old mother of two who suffered complications during childbirth and lost a child. She was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 30 years imprisonment. A few months later, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. She was not given proper treatment, was not allowed to see her family, and died in prison in 2010. Today, her parents and sons have joined activists demanding justice and calling on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to take action.
