With funding from the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO), the IRC was able to help villagers overcome the floods and rebuild their lives. The IRC provided cash grants to rebuild homes and businesses and replace goats and chickens. Men and women were paid to clear roads and irrigation channels and construct protective walls, providing families with extra income when they needed it most while benefiting the whole community. Meanwhile, a deworming and vaccination campaign undertaken in collaboration with the District Livestock Extension helped to prevent disease spreading among the animals that many Sindhis depend on for food and income.
