Maryam Raeesdana was born in Tehran and lived in Iran till 2006 when, aged 37, she moved to Paris and then moved to the United States in 2010 where she now lives in California with her husband. She is a writer, poet, translator, freelance journalist and blogger. The main subject of her short stories and poems is women's issues in Iran. After her own emigration, she is also trying to investigate and write about the successes and failures of Iranian migrants.
