Rossknowlagh, Co. Donegal, United Kingdom

Members of the Orange Order march through the countryside during the first 12th July Parade of the year at Rossknowlagh in the Irish republic. The 12th July marches are held by the Protestant community to celebrate the victory of William of Orange over the Catholic King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. The marches take place all over Northern Ireland and are often the scenes of violence between the Protestant and Catholic communities. The Rossknowlagh march takes place on the saturday before the 12th and is the only major march to take place in the Republic.
