Mina, an Iranian immigrant came to the United States in 1973 to continue her graduate studies in Medieval English Literature, Medieval and Renaissance Art History and, later on, for her PhD in Philosophy. While still a student, she taught English Literature at Keane College in New Jersey. After graduating from New York University (NYU) and finally from Hunter College in 1983, she started her own production enterprise where she worked in faux painting, gilding, silkscreen printing, acid etching and other techniques. In 2005, she retired and started her writing, translating and human rights activities. Aside from her professional life, she has remained involved in volunteer jobs in various non-profit organisations such as Harlem Tutorial, the Lupus Foundation, the Coalition of Concerned Legal Professionals and others. She has always considered herself a community builder and takes pride in her contribution to maintaining a community of Iranians in New York City.
