Muhmet Ngsemaj digs up the body of his 78 year old mother Sofe so that she can be reburied in the cemetery. His 19 year old son helped at first, but Muhmet decided he would complete the grim task alone to protect his son. Four months after being forced to flee Studenica due to fighting between Serbian paramilitaries and the Kosovan Liberation Army (KLA), ethnic Albanians were finally able to return to their homes. 23 bodies were recovered, most buried in shallow graves. George Georgiou returned to photograph Sofe's grave seven years later (image GGE00563KOS).
