Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) fighters are given a history lesson to raise their 'political awareness', effectively to demonise the enemy. Steeped in the tradition of regional liberation movements, the OLF puts a lot of faith in what they call 'liberation theory', with regular classes for fighters in the bush.
The OLF have been fighting a 'forgotten war' against successive Ethiopian governments since the 1970s. Their aim is independence for Oromia and its 30 million strong Oromo community.
