Khammouane province, LAOS

People drink home made alcohol during a ceremony to bless the spirit of Noukarn, a member of their community. Three months earlier he was killed when he set off an explosive device whilst looking for scrap metal, a risky activity that many people partake in to earn a living.
Decades on, Laos is still living with the effects of the Vietnam war. Millions of bombs were dropped by US aircraft in Laos in an attempt to destroy the supply lines of North Vietnamese forces. Many remain deadly, with frequent accidents involving unexploded ordnance (UXO).
