Asmara, ERITREA

Pillars of the Fiat Tagliero service station, built in 1938 by the Futurist architect Giuseppe Pettazzi and representing the dynamic form of an aeroplane. Asmara is a showcase of 1930s Italian Art Deco architecture. Initially created by colonial-era Italians, the style continued to flourish in the 1960s as local architects carried on the tradition.
