Reneboy Labandria (28) looks to the shore where his house used to stand in Barangay Fatima in the aftermath of typhoon Rai.

Labandria explained how, at least, the first 2-3 houses in this area were wiped out by the sudden two metre wave. He has gathered what he could from his old house in order to rebuild but he is lacking the tools and nails to start rebuilding.

The impact in this area was immense. Almost all of the houses in this district (purok) were completely destroyed, a few were partially destroyed and almost all of the fishing boats (bancas) were lost. Many villagers thought they could brave the winds, but a sudden two metre surge wave came tumbling in and houses that had so far withstood the onslaught of the typhoon were demolished within mere minutes.
