Rod Bower (2nd from left) at the entrance of his church shortly before the beginning of the sermon. Once churchgoers are signed in they must wear a face mask and sanitise their hands.

Millions of people have viewed online Rod Bower's statements on a billboard out the front of his church. The short and punchy messages, spelled out in 30cm block letters that express his typically progressive opinions, have gained global attention on social media.

In 2016, right-wing protesters, wearing mock Muslim outfits and shouting anti-Islamic slogans, stormed his church during a Sunday mass after Rod Bower had offered messages of support for the Muslim community.
