Roozbeh Farahanipour was born in Tehran in 1971 and studied law at Azad university. He was a co-founder of Marz-e Por Gohar (The Glorious Frontiers) resistance movement and was one of the leaders during student protests in 1999 when he was arrested and tortured. He was released on bail and escaped to the United States in late 2000. He now lives in California where he is a restauranteur and continues his activism against the Iranian state.
