Rows of former miner's cottages are pictured behind a Maersk ship which will take reels of cable out to offshore energy projects, from Bates Terminal, located on the site of the former Bates coal mine, at the Port of Blyth. The former coal mining area of Blyth in the North East of England is now one of the UK's most deprived areas, but a growing number of renewable energy businesses in the area are giving hope for regeneration and a more sustainable future.
