Bartella, Nineveh Governorate, Iraq

Sisters Amina (right) and Mohinta Sha'ana watch as a team of Shiite Muslim Shabak workers continue with the rebuilding of their house in a Christian area of Bartella.

Prior to being overrun by ISIS in August 2014 the town was majority Christian but following its liberation, on 20 October 2016 by Iraqi Special Operations Forces, the Christian population has seen a marked decrease and it now amounts to about a sixth of the town's population which now has a Shiite Muslim majority.
