Storm clouds hang over the ruined foundations of a seafront house. The seas surrounding Peninsular Malaysia are amongst the most biodiverse and richest in the world. The habitats include coral reefs, mangroves and sea grasses. As a result the fisheries of the Straits of Malacca and the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia’s South China Sea support an abundant fishing industry that produces more than 70% of Malaysia's marine fish landings.
