Makeni, Sierra Leone

Sunrise over a misty grove of palm trees in the interior of Sierra Leone. The trees produce a mildly alcoholic sap known as palm wine, or 'poyo', a popular drink throughout West Africa. In Sierra Leone, palm trees have many uses, and hold an important place in the country's history. They even feature on it's national crest.
