The couple fled Syria in April 2013 with their two children. They spent five years in Lebanon before being resettled in Liverpool where they have been supported by the UK Community Sponsorship scheme which facilitates refugees in making relationships with local people as a means of helping them adjust to their new life in Britain.
Ghofran says she had feared moving the childen to a new country and culture but, after six months living in Liverpool she says, ''They have become happy. The welcome from people was very great.''
