The Nubian ruins of Gebel Adda, Nubia, which consist of a small rock temple of pharaoh Haremhab at Abu Oda, rock chapels at Gebel el-Shams dating from around 1300 BC and a large fortified town from the 1st to 5th centuries AD. It was a notable site in the Late Meroitic and Christian (6th to 16th centuries AD) eras, remaining in constant use until around 1800 AD. (248)
