The pit-head, which is all that remains of the former Bates coal mine, is being transformed into a clean energy terminal at the Bates Terminal in the Port of Blyth. The former coal mining area of Blyth in the North East of England is now one of the UK's most deprived areas, but a growing number of renewable energy businesses in the area are giving hope for regeneration and a more sustainable future.
