La Foa, New Caledonia, France

The son in law of ranch owner, Nadia Baronnet, adjusts the saddle of a horse before corralling the 120 head of cattle on her 180ha farm for tick disinfecting.

Nadia Baronnet's, great grandfather, Andre Baronnet, settled in New Caledonia in 1890 after emigrating to work in the French penal colony from his home in Brittany. Many of the settlers, known as 'Caldoche', own cattle ranches in New Caledonia.
