Hvannasund, Vidoy, Faroe Islands

Three men hurry across a beach when they see whales approaching land during the whaling season in Hvannasund. While international animal rights groups criticise the hunt as being cruel and unnecessary, most Faroese consider whaling an important part of their culture and history. After a successful hunt, the meat and blubber are split amongst the population.
