Touraj was born in 1966 in Iran. He moved to Pakistan in 1985 as an asylum seeker and to America 18 months later. He has established his own construction business in Chicago.
His wife Shiva also moved from Iran to Pakistan in 1992, then moved to Brazil in 1994 in 2006 she moved to USA and works as a beautician and owns a beauty salon.
