Tourists walk along an original section of the Berlin Wall at the East Side Gallery in Berlin. In the background the housing construction project 'Living Bauhaus' is visible. The 63-metre high residential development along the banks of the Spree river is controversial. Locals wants to preserve the 1.3km long stretch of the cold war symbol and keep the land along the river Spree as public land. The wall, constructed by the former East German communist government in 1961, fell on November 9 1989, paving the way for the reunification of the two Germanies. 9 November 2014 is the 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.
