Vicky Moller and Sara Alchik (9) playing together in the sea.
The Alchik family, originally from Syria, have been supported in their resettlement by the UK Community Sponsorship scheme which helps refugees make relationships with local people as a means of helping them adjust to their new life in Britain.
Moller was the initiator in bringing the Alchik family to Cardigan. The process started almost three years earlier by gathering people, formalising a committee, forming a charity and navigating the application process, including visits to the area by the Home Office. Vicky says of the endeavour, ''Community sponsorship is a lovely thing to do. It's very rewarding. It's a little kernel of perfection, but it's too small in Britain. This is too good to waste, it should spread.''
