With some help from her father, Connie Warner uses a hammer to remove a belemnite fossil from a block of clay during a fossil hunting trip to a beach on the so-called Jurrassic Coast. Belmnites are the remains of squid-like creatures that lived nearly 200 million years ago. West Dorset is unusual in that it is a destination where it is both possible and legal for amateurs to hunt for, keep, and even sell the fossils they find.
