Bor, Eastern Serbia, SERBIA

Workers leaving after finishing their shift at the industrial copper plant in Bor, a town wholly dependent on the copper mine and related industries. In Yugoslav times, the Bor plant had 20,000 employees and sold copper to East and West, making Bor one of the richest towns in the former Yugoslavia. However, the mine has had little investment over the last fifteen years and is in the process of being sold to foreign investors, with the Serbian government setting the minimum price for the two surface mines, one underground mine, and the smelting and refining unit at USD 340 million.
